A total of 120 participants were divided into four groups (dentists, dental technicians, patients, and students). They visually compared pairs of shade tabs under standardized lighting and responded to two questions to assess the discrimination and acceptance of tooth color differences. Generalized estimating equations with a logit link function were applied to evaluate the influence of individual colorimetric parameters (ΔL , ΔC , ΔH , Δa*, and Δb*) on discrimination and acceptance. In addition, decision tree analysis was performed to visually identify the interrelationships among the colorimetric parameters influencing discrimination and acceptance. <br> Results: Dentists and dental technicians showed higher discrimination and nonacceptance rates than patients and students. In the ΔL , ΔC , and ΔH model, ΔC was identified as a significant factor in all groups except dentists. In the ΔL , Δa*, and Δb* model, Δa* was identified as a significant factor in all groups and showed the highest odds ratio. For acceptance, ΔC was identified as a significant factor in all groups in the ΔL , ΔC , and ΔH model. In the ΔL , Δa*, and Δb* model, all parameters were identified as significant factors across all groups. Decision tree analyses indicated that for discrimination, ΔC and Δa* were selected at the first level, whereas for acceptance, ΔC and Δb* were selected at the first level, followed by Δa* at the second level. <br> Conclusions: Chroma difference (ΔC ) and red-green axis difference (Δa*) play particularly important roles in both tooth color discrimination and acceptance.
